A
kickstarter campaign [kickstarter.com] to help communities build their own infrastructure has been going on for a few weeks now with little attention. The tag line reads "Meta Mesh is the first Community Wireless Network company in the US and is creating a start-to-finish solution for building CWNs." and is complete with a TLDR for those who want a quick overview. The company behind the kickstarter campaign has been around since 2012 and has completed successful deployments in the Pittsburgh area. Broadening the connectivity options available to everyone within your own community can potentially prove life saving during emergencies. What do you think about serving your own community in this way? Has anyone successfully deployed a similar CWN within their own community? How would you handle the network infrastructure in a urban vs. rural area?
