Politico has noted that
Hillary Clinton has been surprisingly mum [politico.com] on the NSA since Snowden's revelations. Rand Paul, considered to be a strong 2016 contender for the GOP, has been anything but — he's been loudly and frequently blasting the NSA and advocating reforms, even
filing a class action lawsuit [csmonitor.com] against the National Security Agency over its phone metadata program.
This begs the question: how much will NSA surveillance matter in the 2016 presidential election in the US? Will it be a major issue, or will the citizenry have mostly forgotten about it? And, what can we geeks do collectively to keep this issue front and center until then?
