Surgeon general warns misinformation an 'urgent threat' to public health:

The surgeon general on Thursday warned Americans about what he called the "urgent threat of health misinformation" amid the government's current push to boost stalling vaccination rates.

Dr. Vivek Murthy's advisory -- the first under the Biden administration -- addresses an epidemic of misinformation and disinformation, and its pernicious impact on public health -- specifically threatening the U.S. response to COVID-19. It frames misinformation as having hindered vaccination efforts, sown mistrust, caused people to reject public health measures, use unproven treatments, prolonged the pandemic and put lives at risk.

"Surgeon general advisories are reserved for urgent public health threats," Murthy said, highlighting his message in the White House briefing room Thursday. "And while those threats have often been related to what we eat, drink and smoke, today, we live in a world where misinformation poses an imminent and insidious threat to our nation's health."

He continued, "While it often appears innocuous on social media apps on retail sites or search engines -- the truth is that misinformation takes away our freedom to make informed decisions about our health and the health of our loved ones. Simply put, health misinformation has cost us lives."

I also have extreme skepticism when politicians (orange topped or not) tell me that the BEST science has PROVEN the vaccine is SAFE, HIGHLY EFFECTIVE and that side effects are VANISHINGLY RARE.

The best science has proven that a man who puts on a dress and declares it magically becomes a woman. Science has proven that solving math problems for a correct answer is racist. Are people really surprised when science is no longer taken as gospel?

english isn't a science. it's a language. and the hipsters changed the language. woman just means hiw you behave now. it used to mean 'human female' just like vixen means 'fox female.' now the word means something else - a person who behaves feminine. no scientist is claiming an xx is male, or an xy is female. that's a strawman fox news made up for you to be angry at.

What I think is fun is watching the conservatards get bent over the existence of intersex in their world. News flash: only about 99% of people fit the "XX is female with a vagina, XY is male with a penis" mold. So, when your local high school with a population of 2000 students makes policy, there are about 20 kids there who don't fit either mold - and probably 18 of them are totally in the closet about it because neither their parents, nor their doctors are ready to deal with the issues.

So, unless you want to kill them all, you might want to face up to the fact that 3.5 million U.S. citizens don't match your binary vision of male and female.

this is a strawman. no one is claiming the xxy fits female or male or the binary sexes. the entire debate is about xx and xy being binary, which it is. the libs are saying woman means behavior, not the female sex. the rednecks pretend the libs are saying 'xx can be a male,' which they're not. in reality, the debate is simply about redefining what woman means, not what 'female' means. and neither side is discussing what you're talking about, which does not fall into those 2 categories.

and this is only happening in english-speaking countries, because we don't know what gender means. gender us for words and grammar. it has nothing to do with sex. english has no gender. french and russian have genders. Table is feminine in french a'd masculine in russian. a table has no sex, the gender is for grammar, not the object. vagina in french is masculine.

then these hipsters who don't know what gender means, push their misunderstanding onto other countries, who laugh at them in latinx-american. because the grammar is 'sexist.' grammar, like gender, has nothing to do with sex.

Every transexual outrage post I've ever read comes off clearly in denial of the existence of the 1%. The most rational ragers I know will say something along the lines of "oh, that's some rare thing you never see" while others will flat out tell you that's a bunch of made up bullshit. Start counting the people you see on a daily basis, tell me when you get to 100, by that point you've likely seen one intersex person already, maybe more.

We are all well aware that other Indo-European languages have grammatical gender. As you mentioned in a prior comment, language evolves, and since that construct no longer exists in English, trying to shoehorn it back in is foolish. Gender in biological terms does exist in English and up until the last decade was universally understood among English speakers to be tightly bound to biological sex.

However, this is all academic and totally irrelevant when deciding on the validity of a biological man presenting himself as a biological woman and vice versa. For example, I offer you one of the trans world's favorite memes: "men can have periods too." You will notice the word "male" does not appear in that slogan. Transgender proponents use gender and sex interchangeably when it supports their strategy but make clear those distinctions when they believe that will support it too. Try to troll harder next time.

you are aware, but you don't know or understand what gender is because you didn't learn them from birth, like I did, and you took 2 years of spanish in highschool, getting a C.

            >language evolves
it does. a bunch of bored sjw hipsters redefining the meaning of a word for political reasons is as much evolution as calling a guy with boobs and inverted dickhole a woman, is not evolving. I never called it evolution. it is what it is.\

            >understood among English speakers to be tightly bound to biological sex.
woman meaning "human female" was bound to biological sex. it was then decoupled from sex, and redefined as "acting/thinking feminine." some people disagree with redefining an english word to be politically correct.

            >biological man presenting himself as a biological woman
and there is no such thing as a biological man and woman. there is only a biological male or female.

            >men can have periods too
and no one, including the rednecks is disputing that. it just does not mean "males can have periods too."

            >Transgender proponents use gender and sex interchangeably when it supports their strategy
and that's something you simply made up because it lets you be angry. no one does that.

english isn't a science. it's a language. and the hipsters changed the language. woman just means hiw you behave now.

You should be honest with your arguments. These people believe that they are biological - not behavioral - swaps and demand you accept them as such.

It also isn't the language hipsters that are the problem. The credentialed social science loons and psychologists that claim that individuals like our US assistant secretary for health Rachel Levine are women instead of mentally ill are the problem. These scientists are as delusional as the bearded lunatic who wagged his junk around in the women's steamroom in the San Francisco spa while claiming he was female. I was recently sent a YouTube link of a middle aged man in a dress trying to make the case that he was a six year old girl. That reveals the depth of mental illness these scientists have pushed into the mainstream.

Actual Scientists do not enable and encourage the mentally ill to indulge in their delusions or try to explain away clear and obvious observation with specious reasoning. This type of science is indistinguishable from dogmatic religion. The transgendered are no less mentally ill than a man who is convinced he is Napolean or Jesus but we are supposed to just not notice it because of political expediency.

Not all of them. While Richard Levine is probably mentally ill, many of the younger generation have entered and graduated college without an understanding or acceptance of what it means to be a male.
I know students who find they are "accepted" / treated nicer if they claim they are female, and there is no pushback or honest support from peers or role models because everyone is afraid of being shouted down on Twitter and being blacklisted in their careers if they say the emperor is not wearing anything. Funny that those people seek (and get!) biological women as their girlfriends. I see far fewer cis-males with girlfriends.
And it's not like graduation and entering a job in the real world is forcing them to "grow up". I have a good friend, definitely not mentally ill, who chose to "transition" for the imagined social benefits.
