Newsweek reports [newsweek.com] that, after an "investigation, which began in December 2015," a Ukrainian prosecutor has filed charges against Josef Stalin [wikipedia.org] and Lavrentiy Beria [wikipedia.org] over the deportation of the Tatars from Crimea [wikipedia.org], which began in 1944. Mr. Stalin led the Soviet Union until his death in March 1953; Mr. Beria, who served as chief of the secret police [wikipedia.org], was killed in June of the same year.
